Approximately 650 000 families earning less than R13 000 a month will rely on the City for housing assistance between now and 2032. While these ten projects will certainly not support all those in need of housing support, it is a step forward in trying to provide dignified living conditions to all the residents of Cape Town.
@ Democratic Alliance: IS there a public register of all people who have applied for RDP houses, who has been allocated already, and where in the queue the applicants are now? This information should also include an expected delivery date.I understand that it it complex to establish this data base as people may have moved out of the area, may no longer be eligible or may even have passed away. BUT it is not impossible to at least show who applied originally, and who is still on that list based on the original application.
Democratic Alliance, I kindly request your answer to my question below. No sense in building new dwellings including RDP or GAP housing if it will endanger our scarce fresh water resources. New construction on these types of developments require enormous amounts of water for compacting, concrete, cement for building and cement for plastering. These dwelling also need infrastructure from civil contractors building roads, storm water, pavements, water and sewerage lines tapping into existing main water supply valves. Have you done an impact study with regards to this reality? If fresh water is used do they (appointed contractors and developers) also get billed at level 4b rates? Further, most construction companies uses water stand pipes that have to be registered and metered. How often does your officials do site visits to inspect these stand pipes for meter accuracy and whether they are used at all? Who in the department of COCT is responsible for managing this equipment, which is the property of the municipality, and are you enforcing the requirements for contractors to have their meter reading done at the department (depot) of water on a monthly basis? #coct
Bring houses to De aar, cause I'm gay with no kids I've been told that I don't need accommodation. Wtf? Don't I have needs must I be in the landlord system forever????
My mother applied for a house 18 years ago and did not get a house with the latest distribution of houses in Heideveld. There are people who received houses after only waiting 3 months. I've tried getting hold of Anthony Moses our Ward councillor but he doesn't pick up his phone. I am a DA supporter and sign all your petitions, even make donations where I can, please can the DA support my family now in their time of need. She needs a roof over her head and can't afford to pay rent as she only earns a lousy R800 per week.
Western Cape is one province with clear and implementable goals and plans when it comes to housing. I am part of those making it to happen
I like the DA's new stance on campaigning for the election... unlike previous elections, you are no longer just pointing out the ANC's failures. i like seeing what you are doing right and better instead of just critisizing the current goverment! It shows that you are an alternative. Way to go! Keep it up!
And what about the building of good quality RDP houses for the poor who can't afford buying these extremely high priced houses? DA should take another look at that and stop building informal settlement look a like houses.
Well done D A Ofcourse you will receive criticism regards housing and these are from people who have no plan at all 🍾
Credit where credit is due...everything takes time give them a chance they doing something well there....👌🏼
