Brilliant article Rob! I will add one aspect that I feel could also be a contributing factor and that is the evil that social media has inflicted on to the world. Over the years social media attracted the worst of behaviour which resulted in a knee jerk reaction from the companies that provide these platforms to create a way of governing and policing the world of social media. Governments got involved and created laws when so called celebrities were abused via social media. So what we end up with is a world where everybody suddenly is a victim or feel that their civil rights have been damaged. I think a lot of that mentality has found its way into the minds of the people who make the laws in sport, ie the ICC. They have to protect the game and its players from all evil and the result is a knee jerk brain fart like these bans being imposed.
Totally agree , yes they should players should on a card system like in rugby a yellow card and if make a simlair offence then a second yellow which becomes a red card and then sent off field as bowler or fielder and will take no part in the rest match , can only sub to field , if a a batsmen is the one to get a red card then , the batsmen must retire immedaitly and the team will with only nine wickets. Just a thought.
Mxm aggah these top managements are boring.kanti I want to know. ICC does have celebration's rule...?
